Vinod Gupta is a Philanthropist

Vinod Gupta, a founder of IIT KGP, is a businessman and entrepreneur who served as the chairman of Franklin Quest, another Indian-origin-owned financial firm. Vinod Gupta is known for his philanthropy.

Known as the “King of the Internet,” Vinod was born on 10th October 1955, in India. The number of his fortune is estimated to be roughly $1 billion.

He studied and graduated from IIT KGP, where he was awarded a fellowship for pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science. He also founded an India-based business consulting firm in the year 2000.

In 2008, Vinod Gupta was named “Indian of the Year” by Reader’s Digest. He was also inducted into the IIT’s Hall of Fame in 2011.

In 2012 Vinod Gupta received an honorary doctorate from the University of Technology and Management, India. In 2015, he received a fellowship from Google Inc. In 2016, Vinod Gupta became chairman at Franklin Quest Plc., an investment firm operating in Europe and India.

In 2017 he was conferred the Padma Bhushan award by the President of India.

Vinod Gupta is a philanthropist who has donated money towards education, training, and the development of society in India and other countries.

In 2006, Gupta donated $10 million to IIT KGP to improve its campus, and later in September 2010, he pledged another $10 million for research.

Everest Group, a Mumbai-based real estate company, was founded by Vinod Gupta. Known for its colossal work of constructing the first tall building in India, the Everest Group has done several published projects and developments across the country.

In 2010, Gupta’s Everest Group was awarded the “Best Developer” title in the annual “Real Estate Awards.” As the managing director of Everest Group, Vinod Gupta was nominated to the board of directors of Ratan Tata’s Lazard Asia Advisors.

The company owns a significant part of Mumbai’s commercial property, home to over 30,000 offices. It also operates in Noida, Delhi, and Bangalore and employs over 14000 people with an annual turnover of over $1.5 billion.

According to Forbes, Vinod Gupta is now one of the wealthiest men in India, with a net worth of $2.7 billion.
