Larry Baer, The SF Giants CEO

Larry Baer is the President of the San Francisco Giants. He has been with the organization since 1991 and became president in 2008 after Peter Magowan retired. His love for baseball began as a child when his father took him to Candlestick Park, where he watched Willie Mays play on the Giants team.

Larry as president and CEO of the Giants, Larry has helped create a highly successful team and stadium with AT&T Park. He played an integral role in putting together a group of investors that purchased the team from Bob Lurie.

During Larry’s tenure, the SF Giants CEO has played a crucial role in keeping top talent with the Giants organization and helping them grow to produce a winning team. Larry helped put together the deal with the city of San Francisco and Santa Clara County, where the Giants would build their new stadium in an area that was formerly known as China Basin, which includes McCovey Cove. Larry also helped secure a 20-year agreement with AT&T Communications for naming rights to the new stadium. Larry has been recognized for his work in bringing the Giants from one of the worst teams in baseball into the 2016 World Series Champions.

As Giants CEO, Larry has vowed to leave the team better than he found it by working to make AT&T Park one of the most environmentally friendly stadiums in America. Larry Baer also pledged that the Giants would be carbon-neutral for all home games played during the 2016 season. Larry Baer announced that the Giants would plant thousands of trees in and around the Bay Area to offset carbon emissions generated by fans attending games at AT&T Park. Larry also announced that the Giants would switch to biodegradable food service items on their private planes, trucks, and buses during road trips.

Larry was born and raised in San Francisco, and he attended Lowell High School before going on to attend Santa Clara University, where he majored in Business Administration, Economics, and Communications. The Giants CEO was awarded the Golden State Award by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for his UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital fundraising campaign. Larry is a fan of the San Francisco Giants and continues to be their president and CEO.
